Jeremiah 1:4-7
4The word of the Lord came to me, saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. Before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” 6 “Ah, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am only a child.” 6 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a child.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.

Has God ever asked you to do something you didn’t want to do? Something that was really hard. Something outside your comfort zone.  And you knew it was God. You could feel the Holy Spirit nudging you, encouraging you to take on the task despite your hesitation.

The prophet Jeremiah said, “Lord, I do not know how to speak; I am only a child.” Fortunately God is much wiser than us. God tells Jeremiah, “Don’t say you are only a child. Say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid for I am with you and will rescue you.”  Our God is not only bold and fully capable of ANYTHING, but He alone will equip us for the tasks He sets out before us.

Remember how Moses pleaded with God to let him out of his task of talking with Pharaoh on behalf of the Israelites? Moses didn’t want to be the spokesperson. He thought he was horrible at that type of work. God
reminded Moses that He gave man his mouth.  And God said, “I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” (Ex 4:12)  WOW. Not only will God give us the skills and knowledge we need to do what He asks of us, but He will also teach us. Truly, there can be no greater teacher.

The last couple of years, God has asked me to do things I didn’t think I could do. I know I can only do these things with His help. When the task is accomplished and you know it wasn’t you, isn’t is great to be able to see God working and active in your life?  Because He alone equips us, we can give God alone all the glory.  Won’t you listen to the Holy Spirit nudging you today? Be confident and know that God will equip you with all you will ever need.

Dear Heavenly Father, help me listen for what it is you want me to do in this earthly life. Thank you for knowing what I need and then providing it. Please help me praise you and give you all the glory afterwards.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
