God is Wise

Proverbs 3:19-20
19 By wisdom the LORD laid the earth’s foundations,
   by understanding he set the heavens in place;
20 by his knowledge the watery depths were divided,
   and the clouds let drop the dew.

The attribute that I was asked to write about is wise.  After, reading the verses selected the thing that struck me was the verses that dealt with the earth and heavens. In Jeremiah, the author says he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding. In Proverbs it states that God by wisdom laid the earth’s foundations and by understanding he set the heavens in place.

In Genesis 1:1 it tells us that, “In the beginning God created the heavens and earth.” This says to me that God in his infinite wisdom started by creating a place for us to live. After he created the Earth, He set the heavens in place. I don't know about you but, I am not too good at putting things in place and am really bad at putting things back after they are moved from there original spot.  Think about setting six or eight items on a table so they are spaced out and not touching each other. When you think you have them right then someone turns on a switch and they all begin to move in different directions and at different speeds.  I wonder how long before something bumps into another object?

God in his infinite wisdom has assembled the heavens and set them in
motion, not to say you won't see a falling star now and then, but nothing is crashing into each other! There  are a couple points that stay constant in the heavens—The Southern Cross in the Southern Hemisphere and the North Star in the Northern Hemisphere. These objects have been used for centuries for navigation. Pretty amazing that God in his wisdom allowed two points to stay constant while everything else is in motion. When I am outside at night and look up at the stars it reminds me of God, but now I will think of the wisdom it took to set all these things in motion. Even though he has created all these things he still finds time to have a relationship with us.

Father, thank you for your wisdom and thank you for showing it to us in so many awesome ways. I pray that as we learn more about you that we would gain some of your wisdom. Be with us each day Lord and thank you for being our constant point that we may use to guide our lives.  Amen
