God is Glory

Psalm 8:1
     1 LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

   You have set your glory
   in the heavens.

Glory.  God’s glory.  What is God’s glory?  I’ve often thought about that question, but I never really put a lot of thought into it.  It’s always seemed like a concept too big for me to ever figure out.  I’m not sure anyone could ever fully explain the Glory of God, but we all need to spend time thinking about it.  When I stop and think about the Glory of God I think of how great the bible says God is, then I realize I can’t even begin to understand how great, all knowing, perfect, mighty, caring, magnificent, majestic, loving, and full of grace and forgiveness…  I can’t think of enough words to begin to explain it.  It also makes me think how much He loves us when I think about His glory.  How someone, who is even more excellent than we could ever know, wants a relationship with us, you and me.  How He sent his one and only son to be ridiculed, to suffer immensely and finally be put to death like a common criminal.  All so we could fellowship with Him.  He did this for us, each one of us.  How can God, who is so glorious, glorious beyond all imagination, be willing to let His son suffer so much for me?  When I consider this sacrifice I can’t help but be awestruck.  I have also come to the conclusion that I will never fully understand the glory of God until I am in heaven with Him.

Heavenly Father, even though it’s so hard to comprehend, we thank you for being so glorious.  You alone are worthy of our worship, praise, honor and thanksgiving.  We thank you for the gift of your son which makes our relationship with you possible.  In His name I pray.  Amen.
