God is Incomprehensible
By Bill Stiffler

Scripture
Romans 11:33
“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!   How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! “

Devotion
I was waking up ready to start my day, when I stared out the window.    I saw a magnificent sunrise.  To my amazement the light from the sun extended across the horizon as far as I can see.  God’s creation was standing before me.    I said to myself how perfect and holy was God’s creation.   The beauty of the sunrise and the perfect construction of the horizon line and its interface with the earth was incomprehensible.      Its wonder was never ending.    During my daily prayer, I gave thanks to God for his perfect and holy creation. I thanked our Father in heaven for the incomprehensible beauty and its healing power upon my soul.   I also gave thanks to God for giving me the opportunity to live amongst his creation and for his sustaining providence.

Late that night after finishing my day at work, I went outside to pick up limbs that were scattered throughout my yard, now visible from the melting snow.   I looked up into the sky and to my amazement I saw a full moon with all its splendor.   Again I thought to myself how perfect and holy was God’s creation.    The moon light illuminated the entire neighborhood, showing me the incomprehensible depth of God’s love and his provision for light even when its night time.   I stopped and praised God for his perfect and holy creation.     His architecture of the sun, stars, moon and skyline was incomprehensible for me to grasp.

Paul wrote in Romans 11:33  (NIV)
“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!   How
unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!“

God wisdom was illustrated to me via the construction of the sunrise and brightness of the full moon.

How incomprehensible is the wisdom and knowledge of God to illuminate the night with the light of the moon.   Giving us vision during the night so that we can pray and see his creation.

How unsearchable and incomprehensible his judgments as illustrated by the unselfish love shown to us by giving us his Son Jesus Christ.

How incomprehensible the paths he has traced out in our lives to allow us to live in his perfect and holy creation.

Prayer: Father, I give you thanks for your grace and mercy.   I give you thanks for your perfect and holy creation.   Father I thank you for sustaining me and allowing me to live in your creation.   And Father I give your thanks for your incomprehensible character.   We pray these things in your Son and our savior, Jesus Christ.
