Gleaners Food Bank is unable to support their Backpack Program in Johnson County. This means that children in need who had been given food to take home each Friday to keep them from being hungry over the weekend will not have that need met.
From the Annual Conference, Emily Krach, who is the chairperson for Children Matter Most, shared one of the goals being churches should partner with a local school.
We have been given the opportunity to partner with two elementary schools. Isom Elementary in Greenwood Schools has 60+ students and Clark Elementary has 30+ students in their “Nutrition Clubs” who will need food for the weekend this school year. The Mount Auburn family can help either monetarily or by supplying food items. The list includes: Spaghetti O’s, fruit cups, pudding cups, Mac & Cheese cups, fruit bars, granola bars, applesauce, and individual cereal boxes. There will be a collection container for food placed at the Go Serve Center in Trinity Hall.
Individuals may make monetary donations directly to the schools. Please make checks out to either Isom Elementary or Clark Elementary and put Nutrition Club on the memo line. Addresses are below:
