Meet Mt. Auburn’s Newest Ministry Leaders

Mt. Auburn is excited to introduce Jeremy Van Deman, as the new Pastor of Family and Youth Ministry and Elizabeth Borders as the new Coordinator of Children’s Worship. Elizabeth will be working with Jeremy for the next 6 months with her priorities being JAM and Jump In. Jeremy will also work with families and students along with the Daycare, collaborating with the rest of the staff to provide very well-rounded ministry opportunities for the entire family.

Elizabeth is excited to serve in the new role as Coordinator of Children’s Worship at Mt. Auburn for the next 6 months. She is passionate about leading and discipling children and youth throughout their faith journey. Elizabeth believes God loves every single child and desires that they may know Him no matter what age. Her goal is to see every child in her ministry have a life-changing experience with Jesus. She desires that all children know that they can experience the same Holy Spirit as adults. Elizabeth has worked with people in a variety of ways, mostly with children as a preschool teacher but also as an event organizer with senior citizens. She loves to sing, travel, play games, and spend time with her family. Elizabeth is joined in her ministry efforts by her husband and high school sweetheart, Michael. They graduated from Evangel University in 2016 – Elizabeth with her degree in Psychology. They are the parents of two wonderful boys, Joshua (18 months) and Asher (3 months). Elizabeth is thrilled to join the ministry at Mt. Auburn and is looking forward to meeting you all!

Jeremy grew up in a United Methodist Church on the southside of Indianapolis. He has worked with several churches and ministries in the United States and abroad, and met his wife Maria in a Gospel choir in Romania. They have four wonderful children, between the ages of nearly seven years old and 17 months old. Their family has been made to feel very welcome, and are eager to invest as a family in what our Good Father is doing among you at Mt. Auburn!

Please mark your calendars for the upcoming youth, children, and family events:

June 17-21 will be Vacation Bible School, followed by a special One Worship Service on Sunday, June 23, at 10 a.m. followed by a cookout.

Sunday, June 23 will be the high school mission trip commissioning during the worship service at 10 a.m. All the adults and youth going on the mission trip are invited to come to service for this special time.

On Sunday, June 30 the sermon will relate, in particular, to what God is doing at Mt. Auburn among the children and students as they grow. That evening during Youth Group, from 5-7 p.m., all middle school students, and any high schoolers not on the mission trip  are invited to attend. This will be an opportunity for these students to get to know Jeremy in his new ministry role. He is looking forward to meeting and learning more about the youth at Mt. Auburn. Be sure to invite a friend to join you!

On Sunday, July 7, Jeremy will be preaching, and there will be regular Sunday school that morning at 9 a.m., and Youth Group that evening from 5-7 p.m. JAM will likely be canceled that morning. Stay tuned for more information.

On Wednesday, July 10, there will be a Vacation Bible School “Wild” pizza party at 6 p.m. This will be a time to meet and follow up from our week of VBS.  Look for more information to R.S.V.P.

On Sunday, July 14, we plan to have a “Parent’s Day,” so to speak. We plan to invite parents and Sunday school teachers and volunteers who work with children to join us right after JAM for a time of prayer and discussion about the ministry. That evening, during the regular Youth Group time (5-7 p.m.), we are planning to invite parents to join us, along with volunteers who work with the student ministry, to pray for, and discuss this ministry. We also hope to have a presentation that evening from those who went on the mission trip.

Not long after all of that, it will be Back-to-School time! Does it sound like a full summer? Sounds like a good summer, we think!

See you soon!
